A series of training workshops were conducted from January 23 to 24, 2024 in Vientiane on ration formulation and evaluation software programs for beef cattle in Lao language using local feeds. This project is in cooperation with University of California Davis (UCD), United States Department of Agriclure, Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS), Souphanouvong University (SU) in Luang Prabang, and US Embassy in Vientiane.
The national implementation of the tool in Laos is expected to increase productivity of small-holder farmers and reduction in intensity of methane emissions (i.e., emission per unit of production).
